Responsibilities

  • Process and document samples.
  • Analyze bulk and thin-section slides for asbestos fibers using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy).
  • Determine optical properties and visual percentages of detected asbestos grains.
  • Quantify asbestos content and identify other sample components.
  • Record findings in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Ensure quality control procedures are followed.
  • Adhere to lab safety protocols and EPA standards for asbestos identification.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, related science, or PLM(Polarized Light Microscopy) Asbestos training course
  • At-least 2 years of PLM experience in asbestos testing
  • Adhere to lab safety protocols, including proper use of fume hoods, personal protective equipment (PPE), and sample containment.
  • Be willing to work extended hours and occasional weekends when necessary
