Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Tuscaloosa, AL

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Supervisor for our manufacturing facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate the activities of a team responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of machinery, tools, and equipment, as well as the upkeep of the buildings, grounds, and utility systems.


Key Responsibilities:

To successfully perform this role, candidates must be able to complete all essential functions, with reasonable accommodations provided to individuals with disabilities as necessary. Additional duties may also be assigned.

  • Assess job orders to prioritize and allocate work efficiently.
  • Schedule repairs, maintenance, and equipment installations to support uninterrupted production operations.
  • Supervise workers tasked with fabricating or modifying machinery, tools, or equipment to facilitate new product manufacturing or improve existing products.
  • Oversee maintenance on utility systems to ensure a continuous supply of heat, steam, electricity, gas, or air for operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
  • Analyze production, quality control, and maintenance reports to optimize and adjust maintenance activities.
  • Regularly inspect machinery and equipment for compliance with operational standards.
  • Design and introduce new methods and procedures aimed at improving operations, reducing costs, and maximizing the use of labor and materials.
  • Requisition necessary tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Train and supervise workers, improving their performance and ensuring familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with management, engineering, and quality control teams to resolve maintenance issues and recommend improvements for operations and equipment conditions.
  • Prepare and manage the department’s budget, monitoring expenditures to ensure they remain within budget.


Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within maintenance, engineering, or operations.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for technical training and professional development.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

The following physical demands and environmental conditions are essential to this role, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • May need to work in confined spaces and wear a respirator when necessary.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions, as well as humid, wet conditions, airborne particles, fumes, extreme temperatures, and loud environments.
  • Must be capable of operating a computer and other office equipment, as well as navigating both office and production areas.
  • Ability to work in high-risk environments, including elevated heights, proximity to chemicals, and exposure to dust and fumes, while adhering to safety regulations and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
