Summary

The Village of Carpentersville is seeking an experienced professional to fill the full-time position of Building and Plumbing Inspector in the Community Development Department. The Inspector will work under the supervision of the Building Official. The position will remain open until filled, and applications will be considered as they are received.


The Inspector performs a variety of routine, complex, and technical work related to commercial and residential building and plumbing inspections and plan reviews during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure that the standards, rules, and regulations of the Illinois Plumbing Code and Village Municipal Codes are met. The Inspector also examines plans and specifications of new construction, additions, and alterations to residential and commercial buildings to determine compliance with the provisions of applicable local, state, and federal construction codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations.


Qualifications

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a sufficient number of years field experience in residential and commercial settings as an Illinois licensed plumber. Experience as a municipal plumbing inspector is preferred.


Special Requirements

A valid State of Illinois Driver’s License and IDPH Plumbing License is required upon hire. The ability to obtain an IDPH Plumbing Inspector certification within 18 months of hire is strongly preferred.
