The business operates a state-of-the-art facility in Massachusetts, producing advanced technical products for diverse industrial, engineering and technology markets.Due to continued growth, the business is now seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join the procurement team at the Massachusetts site.Key Responsibilities:The Senior Buyer will be responsible for procuring materials for a specific product line within an engineering manufacturing environment.Procure materials for a defined product line within an engineering and manufacturing environmentManage long lead time items to ensure continuity of supply and eliminate shortages proactivelyNegotiate supplier pricing, material availability and lead times to secure the best commercial valueIdentify, develop and implement alternative and second sourcing strategiesDrive cost reduction initiatives across materials and suppliers, including spend analysisSupport supplier base reduction while maintaining quality and supply performanceMaintain quality standards and monitor supplier performance across cost, delivery and qualityManage end-to-end purchasing activities, including sourcing, purchase orders and schedulingDevelop and maintain strong, effective supplier relationships and partnershipsIdentify and mitigate supply chain risks and resolve supplier issues and escalationsWork closely with engineering, production, planning and quality teamsSupport new product introductions, engineering changes and continuous improvement initiativesAbout You:Role: Buyer, Senior Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement or a related backgroundExperience required: 5 to 7 yearsSystems and Tools: Strong Excel skills and ability to develop complex spreadsheets + ERP experienceSector: Manufacturing or engineeringEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Business or EngineeringCertification: APICS qualification desirableStrong negotiation skills with a commercial and competitive mindsetFlexible and solutions-focused approachConfident communicator able to build strong supplier relationshipsLocation: Must be local to Massachusetts, no relocationHow to apply:Please click “apply”, or for further information, please contact Ajay Bhella at Umbilical LLC, alternatively, please email me an up-to-date copy of your CV to ajay@umbilicaladvanced.comUmbilical LLC is committed to promoting Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.
