Responsibilities:
• Manage 2-4 engineers dedicated to serving a fast-growing, proprietary software platform that supports the sale of surety bonds. • Provide mentorship, reinforce accountability, uphold standards of culture, and continuously improve the software development process. • Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders throughout the company to understand the business context, refine the product roadmap, and define and execute on the technical strategy to best achieve it. • As a senior member of the engineering team, collaborate directly on major architectural decisions, smaller features, and bug fixes, including writing, testing, and reviewing code across a React frontend and PHP/Laravel backend. • When called upon, troubleshoot and debug the thorniest of issues, calling on external help when needed. • Assist with the recruitment, hire, and onboarding of engineers, including external developers and teams when appropriate. • Create and update software documentation as needed. • Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa. • Continuously learn about new programming tools and techniques, and be a thought leader for others on the team when adopting new tools and practices.

Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in full stack development. • 3+ years of technical management experience • Proficient in high-level programming languages such as PHP, Python, Node.js, or similar. • Experience with frontend JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js. • Strong understanding of the MVC architecture and experience with frameworks like Laravel, Django, or Ruby on Rails. • Familiarity with relational database technology such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure). • Ability to work both independently and in collaborative teams to meet project goals. • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with AWS services like Aurora and Fargate. • Experience with Salesforce and the Apex programming language. • Strong experience with advanced Git commands. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is preferable.
