Pay: up to $130k/y

Direct Hire position

Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior/Chief estimator with pre-construction experience to manage the workload and development of our preconstruction and estimating staff. This role is crucial in overseeing various ground-up and renovation projects, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the effective execution of preconstruction tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage an extensive pipeline of diverse, ground-up, and renovation projects.
  • Collaborate with owners, architects, and personnel on construction projects throughout the many phases of project development and execution.
  • Manage the efforts of the Preconstruction/Estimating staff as it prepares detailed estimates.
  • Manage workloads and schedules of self and subordinates to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare and analyze cost models during the preconstruction phase and/or bidding period.
  • Assemble General Conditions in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Develop and maintain a cost history database to be used in developing budgets and estimates throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Stay updated on industry trends with respect to estimating methods and technology, construction methods and materials, construction costs, wages and related costs, productivity rates, and working rules.
  • Collaborate with project and operations teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, project delivery, and other progressive practices.
  • Foster and enhance relationships with owners and architects.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to estimating policies and procedures, as well as other corporate policies and procedures.
  • Participate in meetings with owners, architects, personnel, subcontractors, and others in pursuit and execution of work.
  • Hire and actively develop preconstruction and estimating staff. Facilitate comprehensive training and development of staff for successful careers in the industry.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times, including interactions with supervisors, peers, and external contacts such as owners, owner’s representatives, architects, and subcontractors.

Education and Experience:

  • Educational background in fields such as Preconstruction, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering (Construction, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Architectural), or other related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in management-level positions in Commercial Construction.
  • Experience working with Commercial Construction (retail, commercial office, healthcare, life science, food and beverage, commercial interiors, and ground-up construction).
  • Skills in cost estimating and estimate analysis (conceptual, schematic, design, and construction), RFP/Q preparation and analysis, scheduling, knowledge of various construction methods and installation procedures, purchasing, contract negotiations, presentations, and personnel management.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft environment (Excel, Word, Outlook) and estimating software platforms.
  • Experience in Lumpsum, Cost Plus, GMP, and CMAR contracting models.
