Summary of Position:

The Senior Buyer (Ingredients) is responsible for timely, efficient, ethical, and cost-effective negotiation and purchasing for ingredients and services, as required.

Functions Performed:

• Responsible for managing inventory for ingredients within the Sr Buyer scope in coordination with other departments to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained companywide and obsolete inventory is dispositioned on a timely basis.
• Responsible for placing purchase orders and follow up to ensure quality and on-time deliveries.
• Participates in sourcing and negotiation for ingredients within the Senior Buyer’s scope to ensure uninterrupted supply and competitive pricing under the direction of the Senior Director, Procurement. Collaborates with other departments on new ingredient sourcing, new product development and sample requests.
• Tracks and communicates industry price trends and competitive situations to senior management.
• Ensures contracts with vendors are documented and consistent with corporate objectives.
• Works on special projects and assignments as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline preferred.
• Three to Five years of experience in ingredient purchasing required.
• Food Manufacturing Experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Quality planning skills and ability to work with other departments necessary.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications necessary.
