Position Summary:

The position requires familiarity with low voltage equipment and systems, how they operate and exhibit the willingness to learn. Exhibit the ability to maintain state-of-the-art security systems and devices as well as access control and CCTV devices. Although not limited to these manufacturers, the following are the primary manufactures products to be maintained: Lenel, Verint, Panasonic, Bosch. The position’s primary work location will be in the NJ metropolitan area.  A valid driver’s license and vehicle will be needed, and the applicant must pass background checks for security purposes.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • General knowledge of low voltage Security, Access Control and CCTV Systems is not required but a plus.
  • Familiarity with hand tools is essential. These tools include but are not limited to: screwdrivers; ratchets; pliers; wire cutters and other small hand tools.
  • Must understand basic measurements using a: ruler or tape measure; be familiar with the use of electronic measuring devices such as V/O meters and other electronic gear to perform daily tasks. 
  • Must have basic math skills, be able to add, subtract, divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic reading, comprehension skills and command of the English language is a requirement.
  • Must be open to learning and willing to acquire certifications offered by manufacturers of equipment being maintained.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; twist; use hands to handle; push; pull or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high places, must have the ability to climb ladders and occasional work in outside weather conditions.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and be able to drive at night.
  • This position requires the ability to bend and work in tight spaces.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to: wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts’ both hot and cold seasonal weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
  • This job involves working mostly on low voltage systems with occasional need to interface 110-volt electricity.
  • The employee is required to be available to work on weekends, holidays and after 5 p.m. and be “On-Call” as necessary. Although it is not frequent that this occurs.

Desired Characteristics

  • Security systems industry experience as a technician is preferred
  • Experience within access control, CCTV, intercom, fiber optics, system infrastructure and networking is preferred
  • Must be available and willing to work extended hours, as needed, to meet business needs and deliver on commitments.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a site tech in the field.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical Institute diploma a plus
  • Systems or manufacturers certifications a plus
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle will be needed
  • Applicant must pass background checks for security purposes.
