Job Description:

  • The client is seeking an experienced Build and Release Engineer (DevOps) to help implement innovative DevOps solutions, solve technical problems, and improve operational efficiencies through automation.
  • The role involves working closely with DevOps Engineers, development teams, and Architects to develop, maintain, and streamline automated build and release pipelines, as well as manage and maintain environments for smooth project deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement innovative DevOps solutions to solve technical problems and improve operational efficiencies through automation.
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps Engineers, development teams, and Architects to develop, maintain, and streamline automated build and release pipelines, from code compilation, automated testing, to deploying releases in multiple environments.
  • Maintain source control branch strategies, build/release, branch merge processes, and documentation.
  • Lead initiatives to improve build and deployment processes, reporting, and reduce deployment time to increase the number of releases per month.
  • Manage and maintain all environments to ensure they are properly configured, available, and scheduled for each project.
  • Coordinate release activities with internal and external teams, partnering with the Change Management group for smooth releases.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call production support rotation and respond to service incidents.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer systems design, computer science, or 5 to 9 years of equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, build engineering, release management, automated software deployment, or software development.
  • Experience as a Build and Release Manager/Engineer in large and complex information systems.
  • Experience in designing and configuring continuous integration build systems in collaboration with IT Development and Middleware teams.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, and Terraform programming and scripting languages. Red Hat OCP is preferred.
  • Experience with WebSphere/HCL Commerce Build & Deployment automation, WebSphere Application Server Administration. HCL Commerce 9 experience is a plus.
  • Experience with containerization, certificates management, Kafka, Zookeeper, Vaults, pipeline automation, Fisheye, Crucible, and Performance & QA Test Tool Integrations.
  • Experience with tools such as Dynatrace, ECK/EFK, JIRA, Prometheus, Grafana, and image registries.
  • Experience with building automation and orchestration tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, Bitbucket, and GitLab.
  • Experience with cloud PaaS/IaaS environments, especially Azure, is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to manage conflict and work with distributed teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload, and deliver high-quality work products on time with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with proven problem-solving approaches.
  • Experience with IBM Sterling Order Management Build & Deployment automation is a plus.
  • Experience with Mobile App iOS & Android CICD Build & Deployment is a plus.
