The Raytheon Huntsville site at the Redstone Arsenal is currently undergoing an expansion project with the groundbreaking on this project in April 2024. This project will take multiple years to complete and will expand the RAY footprint. An EHS/Explosives Safety Specialist would be able to provide leadership to implement projects related to contractor management associated with this construction project. The EHS/Explosives Safety Specialist will have the opportunity to experience routine site EHS Operations to support continuous improvement, compliance assurance, goal achievement, and management of change. Due to the small EHS Staff at the sites in Huntsville, the EHS/Explosives Safety Specialist will have an immediate impact on the site’s programs and culture.

The ideal SkillBridge Candidate will possess the following:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience within Explosives and Safety Operations or Environmental, Health and Safety disciplines with a stronger knowledge of safety requirements outlined in OSHA 1910, DOD 4145 or military service equivalent regulation.
  • Experience in implementing and sustaining an Explosives Safety program.
  • Generalist in Environmental, Health and Safety disciplines with a stronger knowledge of safety requirements outlined in OSHA 1910, DOD 4145 or military service equivalent regulation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Project and people management skills.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct training, explosives safety reports, and presentations for explosives safety program elements.
  • Formal training in DoD explosives safety policies and procedures in a military and/or defense contractor setting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to all levels of organization, from executive management to production workers.

U.S. Navy: Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)/EOD Technician

U.S. Air Force: AFSC 32EX/Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer

U.S. Marine Corps: MOS 2336 - Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer


SkillBridge Eligibility overview:

To be eligible for this SkillBridge Fellowship you must meet the following requirements:

• Must be eligible to participate in Fellowship per DoD Instruction 1322.29.

• Must be projected to receive an honorable discharge from the military.

• Must have all TAP and transition requirements completed prior to the start date.

• Must receive approval from Unit Commander or O4+ in the chain of command.

• Must be located within a commutable distance or willing/approved to relocate to the job location.
