Overview:

Our client, a global leader in packaging solutions, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their team. This role involves designing electrical control systems for heat seal packaging machinery from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine controls, AutoCAD, and PLC programming. This full-time position reports directly to the Machinery Manufacturing Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop machine controls for heat seal packaging machinery.
  • Create electrical schematics using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
  • Develop electrical enclosure panel layouts using AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Generate machine controls Bill of Materials using the Syteline ERP system.
  • Test and debug electrical control circuits.
  • Integrate various inkjet, laser, or robotic systems.
  • Program machine control components, including Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Assist in the development of machine manuals and quoting needs.
  • Program other types of PLCs (e.g., Omron) and HMIs is a plus.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering and assembly departments.
  • Perform final machinery check-offs to verify system functionality.
  • Provide customer support through phone assistance, technical questions, and during machinery factory acceptance visits.
  • Offer technical assistance to machine assembly and sales teams as required.
  • Communicate project progress, goal achievements, and customer expectations to the department manager.


Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with electronic test instrumentation.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and following verbal and written instructions.
  • Expertise in Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI programming.
  • Experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting industrial equipment with electro-mechanical components (e.g., relays, motor starters, temperature controllers).
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD software or equivalent for electrical design.
  • Basic computer skills, including file processing, email, web navigation, and MS Office.
  • Ability to adapt to new machine control software and update as needed.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • At least one year of relevant experience (including co-ops and internships).
