Electrical Test Technician - High Voltage, High Power (HVHP)

Job Overview:

Seeking a skilled HVHP Test Technician to perform product testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis in a fast-paced electrical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test high-voltage, high-power systems (480 VAC 3-phase) following detailed procedures.
  • Diagnose and fix product issues through failure analysis (FA) and debugging.
  • Work with engineers to improve testing processes and resolve technical problems.
  • Support production by guiding operators on testing standards.
  • Perform specialized tests based on customer requirements.

Required Skills:

  • HV (High Voltage) HP (High Power) testing and troubleshooting experience.
  • Proficiency in failure analysis (FA) and debugging.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office for documentation.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or Associate’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in HVHP (High voltage High Power) manufacturing.
  • Preferred: Electrician License or equivalent certification.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and safety standards (OSHA, NEC).
  • Experience with automated testing systems.

High Voltage and High Power (HVHP) systems involve critical elements such as 480 VAC 3-phase systems, power distribution, transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers. Key skills include failure analysis (FA), debugging, fault detection, and electrical diagnostics, using tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, high-pot testers, and power analyzers. Professionals must adhere to electrical safety standards, including OSHA, NEC, and IEC, and practice lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure safe operations. Expertise in industrial controls, power electronics, wiring, cabling, and automated testing systems is essential, along with knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and energy efficiency optimization. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and load balancing further enhances troubleshooting and system reliability in high-voltage environments.
