The Purchasing Manager role revolves around formulating and executing a comprehensive purchasing strategy. Responsibilities encompass sourcing materials, negotiating contracts with suppliers, drafting various procurement documents, and maintaining accurate databases. Ensuring compliance with purchasing regulations and managing vendor relationships for audits are also key duties. The role extends to establishing and upholding company policies, maintaining contractor databases, evaluating cost-saving opportunities, and collaborating with various departments for tailored purchasing programs.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing quotes and proposals, providing recommendations within budget constraints.
  • Obtaining competitive quotations and selecting suppliers based on quality, cost, and service.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and legal purchasing regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate vendor and purchasing data in SAP and other databases.
  • Facilitating onboarding processes for new vendors and contractors.
  • Managing third-party contractor verification and training databases.
  • Overseeing storeroom cycle counts and purchase requisition accuracy.
  • Managing contracts, negotiations, and ongoing service execution.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and exploring alternative sources.
  • Collaborating with Corporate Purchasing for global sourcing strategies.
  • Providing guidance and training on purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Continuously improving efficiency and accuracy in purchasing operations.
  • Supporting Accounting and Finance with accounts payable and special projects.


Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, material management, or related field.
  • Two years of purchasing experience and SAP proficiency (PP, IM, WM, PM).


Preferred:

  • PMP Certification.
  • Four years of purchasing experience and advanced SAP proficiency.


Language and Mathematical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking at an appropriate level.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including computation of rates, ratios, and percentages.


Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with SAP modules and materials management software.


This role demands a proactive approach, meticulous attention to detail, and effective communication skills to ensure smooth operations and cost-effective procurement processes.
