Key responsibilities of a Senior Construction Estimator:

  • Preparing comprehensive cost estimates:
  • Analyze project documents, perform quantity takeoffs, calculate labor hours, material costs, and equipment needs to develop detailed project estimates.
  • Leading the estimating process:
  • Oversee the estimating team, assigning tasks, reviewing calculations, and ensuring accuracy of estimates.
  • Identifying risk factors:
  • Evaluate potential challenges, contingencies, and cost variations associated with a project.
  • Subcontractor management:
  • Obtain quotes from subcontractors, assess their capabilities, and negotiate pricing.
  • Value engineering:
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality and functionality.
  • Client presentations:
  • Present detailed cost breakdowns and project proposals to potential clients.
  • Bid strategy development:
  • Contribute to the overall bid strategy, including pricing and proposal content.
  • Project feasibility analysis:
  • Assess the viability of projects based on cost estimates and market conditions.
  • Staying updated with industry trends:
  • Monitor market fluctuations, new construction technologies, and material pricing to maintain accurate estimates.
