Position Overview:


As the Director of Engineering, you'll be the driving force behind cloud strategy, reliability, and operational efficiency. You'll be responsible for shaping cloud infrastructure, managing resources, and fostering cross-team collaboration to ensure the successful execution of key initiatives. Your leadership will focus on continuous improvement by assessing technologies, optimizing processes, and aligning team efforts with organizational goals for maximum impact.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Director of Engineering:


  • Instill a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Lead talent acquisition and development efforts, with a focus on performance and fostering growth.
  • Identify strategic opportunities and influence stakeholders to support key initiatives.
  • Conduct capacity assessments to ensure systems are scalable and performance meets objectives.
  • Set annual objectives for your function, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and new technologies, advising on adoption or avoidance.
  • Cultivate relationships with vendors to support both engineering and business objectives.
  • Spearhead organization-wide initiatives that elevate the maturity and effectiveness of engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with teams across the company to establish technical requirements and prioritize initiatives.
  • Analyze and refine processes to enhance efficiency and drive improvements.


Key Qualifications:


  • 5+ years in a leadership role with management experience.
  • Expertise in at least one cloud platform (preferably Azure) and a range of cloud-native tools like Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and other similar technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of system architecture, cloud networking (VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, etc.), and experience building scalable systems.
  • Proficient in cloud security, including IAM, encryption, and best practices for security group configurations.
  • Experience with incident management following ITIL4 practices, and coordinating teams for fast issue resolution and follow-up problem management.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery strategies and resiliency planning.
  • Knowledge of best practices in monitoring, alerting, and handling service-level agreements (SLAs), objectives (SLOs), and indicators (SLIs).
  • Passionate about cloud monitoring and logging tools like AWS CloudWatch, ELK/EFK Stack, Dynatrace, Datadog, and others.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams.

  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent, and relevant certifications are a plus.
