Job Description: Mongo DBA

Location: San Jose, CA

12+ Months Contract

Work Schedule: 3x days onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), flexible with China time.

Must-Have Requirements:

MongoDB Expertise:

• Strong understanding of MongoDB architecture (replica sets, sharded clusters, data distribution).
• Hands-on experience in MongoDB database design, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, backup/restore, and patching.
• Performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Security enhancements using X509 and TLS authentication.

1. Kubernetes/Docker:

• Extensive experience with Kubernetes (pods, services, deployments, applications, stateful sets).
• Proficiency in Docker and container runtime technologies.

1. Programming Skills:

• Proficiency in Python (minimum 3 years).
• SQL, Perl, and Shell scripting experience.

1. Database Administration:

• MySQL and SQLite experience.

1. Communication:

• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with global teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and manage Client’ MongoDB clusters for critical applications.
• Resolve security vulnerabilities, including server and OS patching, ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Monitor and address potential issues to prevent incidents.
• Assist in developing tools for MongoDB to PostgreSQL data migration.
• Collaborate with application teams to address incidents.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and support off-hours collaboration with engineers in China.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or other cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Java.

Education:

• Single 3-hour panel interview (coding and technical questions on MongoDB and Kubernetes).
