We are seeking a Safety Specialist/Industrial Athletic Trainer to join our team in Ham Lake, MN.

This individual will review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and project safety in conjunction with supervisory personnel. Design, modify, and coordinate safety programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury and disease. Facilitate the enforcement of adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals and comply with corporate safety program standards. Focus on ergonomics, wellness, and sprain strain elimination.



Responsibilities:

  • Helps with implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations and MP Systems policies
  • Assist with employee education on general body mechanics and ergonomic concepts
  • Involvement with the ergonomic team to assess and promote interventions that could improve job tasks
  • Engage the employees in and promote our Stretch & Flex program
  • Promote general wellness within the company, such as educational flyers on certain topics, or creating wellness events/competitions, etc
  • Documents and tracks safety-related incidents, accidents and injuries, and assists with conducting investigations of the same
  • Ensures that all required safety records and reports are complete, accurate and correctly submitted to comply with all internal processes and comply with all local, state and federal regulations along with company policies.
  • Provides signs, posters, barriers and other materials to warn of potential or and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to such hazardous conditions
  • Knowledge of and experience with OSHA rules, regulations and reporting processes
  • Familiarity with safety policies and procedures in a construction environment
  • Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
  • Assists with preparation of materials and evidence for company use in accident reports, reviews and insurance investigations.
  • Assist in the review, evaluation, and analysis of work environments and design of programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury or accidents. May assist in inspections and hazard reporting consistent with our policies and regulations governing the safety of individuals.
  • Partners with the Branch team to ensure that work the sites have all the required safety, first aid and fire prevention equipment and that they are in good working conditions.
  • Perform pre-construction project reviews to ensure all customer and company requirements are met.
  • Perform pre-construction site visits to ensure all customer and company requirements are met.
  • Work with project team to develop a pre-construction safety plan which addresses PPE, work practices, hazard elimination and hazard recognition.
  • Ensure that the company is staying abreast of new safety issues in the industry in order to react and implement adjustments as soon as possible.
  • Investigate injuries and accidents to determine and communicate root causes to upper management.
  • Collaborate with supervisor on worker’s compensation claims management to minimize company exposure.
  • Coordinate and lead the branches’ accident review meetings as necessary.
  • Participate in company’s accident review meetings, as requested.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health, wellness or exercise related field (e.g., Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Kinesiotherapy, Nutrition, Health Promotions or Allied Health equivalent) is preferred.
  • Proper certification/licensure at time of employment (e.g., certified Athletic Trainer, Kinesiologist, Exercise Physiologist,
  • Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant or similar)
  • Prior internship or work experience involving safety or leadership preferred.
  • Prior experience in the electrical or construction field preferred.
