Dockzilla Co. engineers and manufactures modular loading dock equipment and distribution structures that elevate loading and logistics where conventional material handling methods fall short. We deploy a sales team of architectural and mechanical engineers to assess customer needs and deliver optimal solutions.


Dockzilla is looking for a highly-organized and detail-oriented Design Engineer to support its sales and order delivery lifecycle by providing manufacturing, installation, and shipping drawings. This candidate will have the ability to support our sales team with drawings to facilitate quoting, and to troubleshoot issues for our onsite installation and service teams. In addition, this design engineer will have the opportunity to develop new products under the direction of our Chief Engineer.


Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with Sales & Applications to understand customer requirements for their solution design.
  • Provide manufacturing support to ensure products are fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
  • Troubleshoot onsite product installation and service issues using continuous improvement techniques.
  • Use Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CAD) software (Auto-CAD and Solidworks) to:


~Create drawings to facilitate order quoting.

~Create new or modify existing shipping and installation drawings. 

~Conceptualize and design new products.

~Modify and/or create component and assembly drawings.


  • Provide prompt, accurate responses to special applications inquiries from our sales and service teams.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, address, and resolve problem areas, conflicts, and issues.
  • Generate complete product documentation such as product manuals, and other tasks as assigned.

 

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 2-5 yrs. experience in design or engineering
  • Experience in Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CAD): Auto-CAD; Solidworks strongly preferred
  • Experience with steel fabrication or hydraulics and controls is a plus
  • Extreme attention-to-detail
  • Interpersonal skills for professional working relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers
  • Ability to seek understanding of technical problems and share knowledge with other team members
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure adequate tracking systems are utilized 
  • Proficient with spreadsheet and word processing software


Workplace location and travel requirements

  • Full-time salaried position working at our corporate headquarters in Minnetonka, MN
  • Remote workplace is not an option, however some work-from-home flexibility is available
  • Travel expectation of approx. 10-25% based on project needs
  • Ability to work outside of business hours on occasion to meet project timelines and troubleshoot job issues


Physical Requirements

  • Sit or stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs and perform moderate physical activity on occasion
