Second Shift Hours: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm (may require extended hours for late shipments)
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Distribution Manager to oversee warehouse and distribution center operations during the second shift. The ideal candidate will lead a team to ensure efficient, safe, and timely distribution of products, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Supervise and lead a team of shipping and receiving associates, forklift operators, and shift leads.
- Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate priorities, safety reminders, and performance goals.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to maximize productivity and morale.
- Provide leadership for all Team Members within assigned department(s) on an assigned shift. Responsible for training, development, performance management, promotion and disciplinary actions of Team Members on assigned shift.
- Ensure team members are up-to-date and trained to perform assigned functions.
- Contact/resolve/counsel Team Members in error remediation.
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily distribution activities, including receiving, and shipping orders.
- Assist with daily departmental functions as necessary including, but not limited to processing inbound and outbound orders, processing of customer returns, and aiding in inventory control activities.
- Responsible for managing inventory and maintaining communications with carriers, suppliers, warehouse and others involved in the shipping and delivery of product.
- Monitor workflows to ensure timely order fulfillment and adherence to company KPIs.
- Coordinate with other shift managers to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of operations.
- Collaborate with Inventory Control, Customer Service, Planning, Quality Control, Sourcing, and Operations to ensure timely and efficient completion of all activities.
- Prepare/present routine reports as instructed by Manager regarding performance in assigned Department(s).
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce workplace safety policies and practices to minimize accidents and injuries.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and company standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and team training sessions.
Inventory & Systems Management:
- Maintain inventory accuracy and oversee cycle counts during the shift.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of products to prevent damage or loss.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track operations and provide reports.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with management to develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of warehouse or distribution management experience, including supervisory responsibilities (biomedical or medical device distribution industry experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional skills; leadership/management background; preferably in logistics areas including shipping/receiving/distribution, and shipment/inventory management within a medical device regulated environment
- Experience using Lean methodologies and practices is strongly preferred
Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Effective problem solving skills, including problem identification, data gathering, solution development, and implementation follow up
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (e.g., , Oracle WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic understanding of quality systems is a plus
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety practices.
- Time Management skills with the ability to prioritize personnel workload to maintain company efficiencies.
- Has a let’s get it done attitude and can react effectively with a sense of urgency when needed
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
