Tabernacle School is seeking a full or part time middle school English or history teacher. Throughout the middle school years at Tabernacle School, our students are challenged academically and grow in confidence as they explore their interests. Job Description
Title: Teacher
Division: Middle School
Reports to: Principal and/or Vice Principal
Status: Full-time or Part-time, Exempt, August to May (During the Academic Year)
Salary: Full time faculty scale starting at $50,000, prorated for this school year. Experience in classroom teaching as well as certifications will increase starting rate.

Position Summary
The role of the Teacher is to develop and implement effective instruction for the courses they teach that engage all students while creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and rigorous learning environment within the classroom. Tabernacle Christian School teachers are expected to develop lesson and unit plans that help students meet and exceed proficiency in content standards. Teachers are also expected to actively facilitate and participate in character building within and beyond the classroom, including but not limited to, break supervision and on/off campus, consistently reinforcing a Christ like lifestyle, school-wide norms, and expectations. Teachers must have a strong background in a like-minded church and commitment to the Christian faith in line with the Tabernacle statement of faith.
The typical teaching assignment involves the following components:
- Number of classes: 2-6
- Number of advisories: 1
- Number of prep periods: 2 per day
- Average number of students per class: 20
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction
- Teachers are expected to submit weekly lesson plans, syllabi, unit plans, and scope and sequence aligned with curricular standards; these plans should be differentiated and designed to engage and challenge students.
- Incorporate Tabernacle’s School Wide Expected Results and LIVE/GIFT program into curricular plans.
- Create and revise relevant, standards-based lesson plans for students, integrating literacy and writing instruction.
- Differentiate instruction according to varied learning styles.
- Engage actively in mandatory staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance your understanding of effective classroom instruction practices and expectations.
Classroom Management and Communication
- Establish and maintain a well-organized and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage classroom behavior to ensure a respectful and inclusive atmosphere among students, including communicating effectively with students, parents, and school staff to inform them about students' progress and classroom activities.
- Enforce school policies and procedures to maintain discipline and safety.
- Employ classroom management techniques in alignment with Tabernacle School policies and service model expectations.
- As a Mandated Reporter, supervise students to ensure their safety.

Work Environment
This job operates in a classroom environment. This role routinely uses standard classroom equipment such as laptops, photocopiers, touch boards, and Chromebooks.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to adhere to the following:
- May frequently walk across campus, as well as use stairs to the school’s second story.
- Participate in campus supervision duty each week – Monday through Friday. The frequency may vary based on the supervision assignment.
- Lift files, open filing cabinets, bend, or stand as necessary, and sit for long periods.

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
Education preferences, but not required.
- Advanced Degree desirable.
- ACSI and/or State Credential desirable.
Licenses or Certificates Needed
- Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis, and/or other employment clearance requirements.
