Engineering Manager (Web)

Location – Phoenix AZ and/or NYC NY


As an Engineering Manager, Web you’ll provide leadership, technical guidance, and product vision to a team of web engineers and collaborate with cross-functional partners to design and develop services, products, and infrastructure used by thousands of customers each day. In this role, you will lead, support, and inspire the engineers in your team. As a hands-on leader, you’ll help them fulfill technical, operational, and business requirements. You’ll work alongside senior engineers and partners across Product, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to guide architecture and delivery of major infrastructure and product improvements. The ideal candidate will be able to solve complex technical challenges while delivering incredible improvements to product reliability and quality.

What You will do:

• Lead and support a culture of collaboration, critique, and candid feedback.

• Mentor and grow engineers to foster an extremely high-performing team.

• Contribute architectural solutions and code implementations at the senior engineer level as part of your hands-on work with the team (code-review, backlog engineer participation, jump starting new projects, taking on tickets). You will split your time fairly evenly across people management and coding.

• Work with stakeholders and product owners to define roadmaps.

• Lead teams that ship major new improvements to a visible and important product or area.

• Collaborate with product owners and engineering leadership to break down complex projects into smaller pieces and iterate on their design and implementation.

• Develop your team’s skills and advance their careers. You won’t shy away from performance conversations, and you recognize the relationship between objective feedback and career growth.

• Assist with incident response, manage on-call rotations, SLA creation and management, and runbook creation.

• Work with the Talent Acquisition & HR teams to interview, onboard, and retain top talent.

• The right candidate will be part of the Global Web Engineering team whose mission is to be essential in our customers’ digital lives by providing value, convenience, and delight wherever they are. Candidates primary responsibilities will be to lead a team of engineers building awesome digital web products used by tens of millions of Customers worldwide. Will work in a fast-paced environment with the stability of working for a Fortune 100 company.


Qualifications

• Understanding of web UI technologies and frameworks such as React and Angular.

• Experience building customer-facing products with performance, availability and high scalability and bringing in new technologies based on current industry standards.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to cater to a diverse audience: executive collaborator, customer, partner, engineering.

• Experience leading and building software engineering teams designing and building efficient software products in a fast-paced, sophisticated, and dynamic software development environment. Hands-on experience architecting and building modern REST APIs.

• Experience with Agile, Scrum or other rapid application development methodologies is required.

• Commitment to drive a culture of accountability and ownership to empower teams and motivate change.

• Experience leading individual contributors and providing career direction, coaching, and building development plans.

• Experience working in a distributed team model and collaborating with remote team members.

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience.
