Description

The Strategic Procurement Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's end-to-end procurement process. This role will ensure that all sourcing, supply chain, and logistics activities align with the company’s strategic goals for efficiency, cost savings, speed and quality. You will work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and logistics partners to drive effective procurement strategies, maintain operational excellence, and support business growth in a light manufacturing and distribution environment.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing:

  1. Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure cost-effective and reliable suppliers
  2. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors to achieve the best value for the business
  3. Identify and onboard new suppliers to diversify sourcing options and mitigate risks
  4. Conduct market analysis to stay informed of supply trends, pricing, and potential supplier risks
  5. Oversee the supply chain process to ensure the timely delivery of materials and components to meet production schedules
  6. Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts, optimizing for cost and efficiency
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, planning, finance) to align procurement plans with operational needs
  8. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
  9. Identify potential supply chain risks, including geopolitical factors, supplier reliability, and transportation issues, and develop mitigation plans
  10. Implement procurement best practices to ensure regulatory compliance, including sustainability and ethical sourcing initiatives
  11. Be the primary POC and knowledge expert for materials reporting for regulatory agencies, customers, partners or vendors
  12. Implement and leverage procurement & logistics technology and software to streamline activities, efficiencies and data analysis


Logistics Management:

  1. Manage logistics partners and ensure the timely, cost-effective movement of goods from suppliers to the manufacturing site and onward to distribution centers or customers
  2. Optimize transportation routes and methods to reduce costs and improve delivery times
  3. Address any logistics issues or disruptions and develop contingency plans for critical supply shortages or delays
  4. Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and international trade policies

Vendor Relationship Management:

  1. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships and favorable terms
  2. Lead regular supplier performance evaluations and develop improvement plans where necessary
  3. Foster a collaborative environment between internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive innovation and value creation

Cost Control & Budgeting:

  1. Monitor and report on procurement costs, ensuring adherence to budgetary limits and cost-saving initiatives
  2. Drive cost reduction strategies while maintaining quality and service standards
  3. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track procurement effectiveness, efficiency, and supplier performance
  4. Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for process improvement


Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  2. 7-10+ years of procurement and supply chain management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  3. Proven track record of driving efficiencies, cost savings and process improvements in procurement and logistics
  4. Experience with international sourcing, customs regulations, and logistics management
  5. Strong negotiations, analytical, and communication skills
  6. Familiarity with procurement, logistics software and ERP systems
  7. Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
