Automation Manager

Automation Manager in Chicagoland, NW Suburbs (will lead a team of 25)

TekPro is partnered with a successful global electronics manufacturer in their search for an Automation Manager This individual will lead an in-house high-speed automation department for electronics assembly and testing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in mechanical design for automation machinery, as well as effective leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the design of automation for various products and assemblies, leveraging expertise in electronic controls, pneumatic actuators, mechanical systems, and operator interfaces.
• Supervise the development of new automation concepts and specifications or enhancements to existing products, incorporating input from multiple sources (manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, marketing, etc.).
• Manage the setting, implementation, and maintenance of work schedules to ensure timely project completion.
• Observe the work and performance of machine builders and design engineers, actively resolving any obstacles or issues.
• Recommend and implement measures to enhance production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and efficiency.
• Provide technical support by furnishing information and answers to other engineers, departments, and customers.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in design engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• 7+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lead teams, communicate priorities effectively, and drive projects forward.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to collaborate with global teams, with potential for international travel.
