Summary:

Under the leadership of the Plant Manager, this position oversees the safe and effective utilization of all maintenance employees and resources required to support the entire manufacturing operation. Key elements for success include safety, electro-mechanical expertise, housekeeping, adherence to GMP standards, problem-solving ability, and fostering good employee relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis and ensure safety compliance.
  • Manage the purchase of spare parts utilizing the PO system.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pipefitting, and rigging duties.
  • Train personnel in proper safety and operation techniques.
  • Execute maintenance plans according to the work schedule.
  • Prioritize shift work and assign resources effectively based on employee experience, training, and ability.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations to guarantee personnel safety.
  • Provide employees with resources in good working order for safe work performance and necessary training.
  • Identify and address environmental, safety, and GMP hazards to eliminate risks.
  • Address employee concerns and maintain open communication and morale within the department.
  • Develop a high level of job proficiency among employees and analyze maintenance performance to improve efficiencies.
  • Provide positive reinforcement for good results and safe performance.
  • Maintain discipline within the shift and document any unusual or unacceptable behaviors.
  • Develop maintenance employees in assigned areas through proactive engagement in training and development.
  • Manage employees directly to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action, and performance management.
  • Utilize strong troubleshooting skills to drive root cause analysis.
  • Apply mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds.
  • Collaborate with facility management to enhance employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards in daily maintenance activities.
  • Supervise preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Compile and submit accurate daily, weekly, and other reports to achieve area/shift Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Work from prints, diagrams, specifications, and instructions for emergency and scheduled repairs, obtaining materials as needed.
  • Maintain documentation and identify cost-saving ideas.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Be available to work any shift, weekend, and holidays as needed to support operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred in operations or engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Related Experience: 5-7 years of technical maintenance experience, preferably in food packaging, process, and/or food safety and security. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Equipment/Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), AS400.
