Radio Frequency Technician

About the Company

The Radio Frequency (RF) Electronics Engineering Technician will support the Public Safety Radio HW Design organization through performing fabrication, rework, alignment, troubleshooting, and characterization of RF and Analog circuits. This role is also responsible for generating accurate test data intended for internal and external customer use.

About the Role

Perform RF alignment and characteristic tests on various RF circuits. Perform fabrication of RF Prototype assemblies and evaluation circuits. Perform rework on surface mount circuit assemblies. Perform in-circuit test and characterization of RF sub-circuits. Perform RF tests on various products. Understand and follow appropriate test equipment / safety procedures. Maintain product configuration information in appropriate documents. Maintain status of units in process. Support the troubleshooting and rework/repair of RF systems and/or their subassemblies. Maintain troubleshooting documentation in appropriate process / product documents. Identify ways to improve manufacturability and communicate ideas with appropriate personnel. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, a technical or engineering field. Prefer 2 years’ experience in electronics, experience with radio electronics is a plus. Solder skills with SMT rework. Ability to work with 0402 components. Attention to detail as expected in an Engineering and Test organization. Basic computer skills including familiarity with Excel and other Microsoft office applications. Written and interpersonal skills, such as communicating well with customers, management, engineering and manufacturing as well as other disciplines of the organization. Successful experience applying planning/organizational skills with effective prioritization of work assignments. Previous successful experience working in both an individual and team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills

• 5 years’ experience testing electronics with a minimum of 2 years specific to RF products.
• RF experience to 1GHz desired.
• Analog and digital troubleshooting skills are a plus.
• Experience in alignment and troubleshooting of various RF circuits such as: Modulators, RF amplifiers, Diplexers, Filters, Oscillators, Synthesizers, etc.
• Technical knowledge and skills in troubleshooting down to the component level; solid understanding and working knowledge of RF test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Analyzers, RF generators, etc.
• Experience at performing various RF characterization measurements such as; Phase Noise, Spectral Characterization, Noise Figure, RF Power and Bit Error Rate.
