Role Description

The Chief of Staff (CoS) serves as a trusted advisor and key partner to the CEO (or President). This role is crucial in driving the company’s strategic initiatives, managing cross-functional projects, and optimizing internal operations. The CoS ensures the CEO's time and focus are aligned with high-priority initiatives and acts as a liaison between the CEO and other departments, fostering communication and alignment.


Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Strategic Planning & Execution:

  - Collaborate with the executive team to define and implement strategic priorities.

  - Assist in the development of short-term and long-term company strategies.

  - Track progress on key initiatives and ensure milestones are met.

  - Oversee special projects and initiatives that support the CEO's vision.

 

2. Operational Efficiency:

  - Identify bottlenecks in company operations and suggest ways to improve efficiency.

  - Ensure that the executive team is functioning efficiently and making the best use of the CEO’s time.

  - Manage key operational meetings by preparing agendas, tracking action items, and following up on deliverables.

 

3. Executive Support:

  - Serve as a right-hand partner to the CEO, ensuring that their time, energy, and priorities are managed effectively.

  - Help manage the CEO's calendar, prepare briefing materials, and attend meetings on their behalf when necessary.

  - Coordinate and communicate with department heads and other executives to facilitate decision-making processes.

 

4. Stakeholder Management:

  - Act as the primary liaison between the CEO and internal/external stakeholders.

  - Manage relationships with key partners, clients, and board members.

  - Prepare communication, reports, and presentations for the CEO to deliver to the board of directors and other stakeholders.

 

5. Team Leadership & Development:

  - Mentor and guide members of the executive team, ensuring that individual goals are aligned with company objectives.

  - Foster a positive organizational culture by encouraging open communication and collaboration between teams.

  - Manage and coordinate the executive team’s goals and deadlines.

 

6. Communication & Alignment:

  - Ensure that key messages from the CEO are communicated effectively across the organization.

  - Facilitate communication across departments to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals.

  - Draft speeches, presentations, and other communications for the CEO as needed.

 

7. Crisis Management:

  - Assist in crisis management by ensuring the CEO has the relevant data and recommendations for handling sensitive issues.

  - Lead task forces or committees in times of company crisis or emergency.


Required Qualifications:

- Proven experience (5+ years) in a management, operational, or consulting role.

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field (MBA preferred).

- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.

- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration.

- High emotional intelligence (EQ) and discretion in handling confidential information.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working directly with C-suite executives.

- Strong background in strategy development and execution.

- Previous experience in operations, management consulting, or a similar field.
