Position Summary

We are looking to hire a part-time experienced Studio Production Assistant to assist in various tasks to aid operations at our photo studio for 16-24 hours per week between the working hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday – Friday. The schedule will vary based upon business needs. This person will assist on commercial photography sets, in studio and on location, as well as to maintain orderliness within our warehouse of photo samples. This work requires a lot of heavy lifting, setting up and breaking down sets, moving product on and off set, assembling furniture and other photo samples, driving a small box truck, as well as warehouse/studio organization and maintenance duties.


This person should be a hard worker with a positive attitude, handy, comfortable with operating hand and power tools and physically able. You will have experience in carpentry, interior painting, and enjoy building scenic backdrops. Essential Functions

Indoor

  • Work closely with photo stylist to plan and prepare products for sets
  • Assist with assembling and breaking down set walls and floors
  • Be responsible for moving product on and off set, as well as pulling product for staging purposes
  • Clean & organize the photo studio warehouse frequently to keep in working order i.e., supplies are labeled and are returned to the warehouse, sweeping, dusting, breaking down boxes and garbage removal
  • Pick up product & material orders using the box truck, load and unload materials, pack products and props for off-site photoshoots
  • Build and or, modify photography sets as needed i.e., Construction of temporary walls, laying flooring, painting, faux-finishing and wallpapering

Outdoor (seasonal)

  • Assist with set up, and or, building of temporary structures (fencing, pavers, siding, etc.)
  • Follow instructions to perform manual labor tasks
  • Landscaping (laying pavers, trimming, planting, etc.)


Physical Demands

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, hands, fingers, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials
  • Perform repetitive motions using your hands and fingers such as, but not limited to, grasping, gripping, and holding
  • Team and solo lifts, up-to 100lbs


Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Proficient in carpentry and/or construction methods
  • 6 months or more of related experience
  • Experience with the operation of hand and power tools
  • Know how to prioritize organization and manage the use of time efficiently
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure
  • Must have a willingness and positive attitude
  • Be an excellent communicator and thrive on teamwork
  • Ability to take direction and initiative
  • Commitment to safety rules
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to provide photos of work


Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in shop work, theater/scenic/set-building background, carpentry and construction
  • Aptitude for mechanics – can follow creative direction from photo stylist to fully build out set designs
  • Ability to operate a forklift
