A prominent and rapidly growing industrial manufacturing organization seeks to hire a senior-level Materials Manager at their site in Western, MI. Reporting to the Site Director, this position will be responsible for the tactical and strategic leadership of the materials department and associated personnel including production scheduling, materials management, purchasing, and supply chain management. This is a permanent, direct-hire position.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate materials scheduling, production planning, inventory control, shipping, and receiving to meet operational objectives.
  • Maintain supplier relationships, including certifications, compliance, and performance monitoring; resolve supplier quality issues through corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage ERP/MRP systems, ensuring accurate data for purchased items, blanket purchase orders, and supplier records, including cost analysis and quotation reviews.
  • Lead and mentor the Materials team, fostering development through training, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, purchasing, and quality, to enhance supply chain efficiency.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of materials management systems (ERP/MRP) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and database applications.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and motivating teams in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities, with a focus on process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Knowledge of ISO/TS and EMS quality standards, with experience in supplier quality management, APQP processes, and lean manufacturing principles.
