AVP Fleet Engineering

This position is charged with the overall planning, budgeting, management, and tracking vessel maintenance and repair activities to assure continued safe and uninterrupted vessel operations at minimal cost.

Key Activities

1.The day-to-day management, coordination and support for the operating season and winter maintenance and repair activities for 9 commercial self-unloading bulk cargo vessels. Five are U.S. flagged and operated and four Canadian flagged and operated. This position supervises and coordinates all activities of three Marine Superintendents to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operation of the fleet during the navigation season.

2.This position prepares and administers all budgeting activities relative to all aspects of winter vessel maintenance with an annual budget of $22,000,000 for the nine vessels. Also assists in the development and preparation of the annual capital expenditure budget of $55,000,000 for the entire operating fleet of 21 vessels.

3.Responsible for shipboard preventive maintenance program, its upkeep, and compliance for assigned vessels. Assist VP Engineering with development of fleetwide maintenance initiatives and support implementation.

4. Regularly analyze vessel operational efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement. Assist VP Engineering with the development of strategic improvement plans for both fleet level and per vessel projects. Lead improvement projects once approved.
