JOB SUMMARY:

The President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has and demonstrates a passion for the YWCA’s mission, goals and objectives and is a vocal advocate and the public face of the organization responsible for growing confidence, trust and support in the Oklahoma City community, the State of Oklahoma, and the YWCA at both the regional and national levels.


The President/CEO leads the YWCA Oklahoma City in mission-driven work in the areas of racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement and health and safety in the lives of girls and women with a focus on serving victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.


The President/CEO collaborates with the Board of Directors (BOD) to set short-term goals and the long term strategic vision. The President/CEO is ultimately responsible for the management of the YWCA’s annual budget (currently ~$5 million) and assets (~$20 million) and the administration of multiple social programs supported by over 100 employees of the YWCA. The President/CEO works with the senior leadership team to ensure the fiscal operations, fundraising, marketing, human resources, facility, and program strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

I. BOARD OF DIRECTORS


A. STRATEGY: Partners with the BOD to set strategic goals, establish policy and manage financial resources to assure continued growth and success of the organization. Develops specific action plans for programs, budgets, public relations, fundraising and advocacy goals as aligned with the strategic vision. Maintains accountability to the BOD for the effective, efficient, ethical operation of the YWCA.


B. PARTNERSHIP: Partners with the BOD and Committee Chairs to develop skilled, committed volunteer leadership as well as strong, effective governance in key areas such as planning, oversight and resource development. Communicates pertinent, timely, and succinct information to help BOD and Committee Chairs make informed governing decisions. Serves as ex-officio member of all Board and Association committees and panels, and provides or delegates staff support as needed.


II. OPERATIONS and MANAGEMENT

A. FINANCIAL: Oversees all aspects of financial management for the YWCA, including but not limited to: preparation of annual budgets for Board approval; contract negotiation and compliance; timely, accurate financial reports; strong financial controls; growth and protection of assets and compliance with generally accepted accounting standards, government accounting standards, contractual agreements, and applicable laws and regulations.


Oversees all revenue generation for the YWCA, working with Board and staff to develop a stable, diversified funding base consisting of personal and corporate donations, United Way funding, government grants, and other sources of revenue that provide sufficient operating capital, investment, and endowment revenue for current and future needs.


B. PLANNING: Leads major institutional planning initiatives related to programs, facilities, administration, organizational capacity-building, marketing, and revenue generation. Leads staff implementation of any Board-approved strategic plans and initiatives.


C. TALENT: Sets high standards, motivates, and empowers the staff to fulfill the vision and mission of the YWCA. Directly oversees and holds the senior leadership team accountable for established goals and responsibilities.


D. CULTURE: Fosters a healthy workplace culture that values the staff, retains top talent and provides training and development in support of professional growth.


E. RISK MANAGEMENT: Oversees development and implementation of policies and strategies that protect vital organization assets such as people, property, funds, information, and reputation against harm, and ensures compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, and affiliation requirements. Stays informed about major trends and issues affecting the nonprofit sector to plan and craft constructive responses to emerging threats and opportunities.


F. SECURITY: Oversees the use, management, safety, security, insurance and upkeep of YWCA facilities, equipment, furnishings, and assets.


G. COMPLIANCE: Ensures the systems for safekeeping of agency records, personnel files and fiscal documentation are established and maintained in accordance with agency, contractual, and legal requirements.


H. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Oversees development of information technology and training that keep information about key publics (donors, members, participants, volunteers), programs and finances accurate, accessible, and secure.


III. PUBLIC and COMMUNITY RELATIONS

A. Strengthens awareness, interest, understanding and support of the YWCA and its work through effective agency and community leadership and relationships with important donors and funders. Develops and nurtures constructive relationships with businesses, lawmakers, government officials, nonprofit and community leaders, law enforcement and volunteers for the benefit of the YWCA and the people it serves.


B. Oversees the planning, development, and implementation of YWCA marketing, communications, and public relations strategies. At the discretion of the BOD, serves as a spokesperson and representative for the YWCA at public events, speaking engagements and media interviews.


IV. ASSOCIATION RESPONSIBILITIES


A. Ensures local association compliance with all national and regional affiliation requirements. Partners with the BOD and staff to drive membership and participation as volunteers and donors.


B. Represents and works closely with the leadership of the national YWCA offices, as well as other YWCAs, to build strong and sustainable relationships.


V. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree strongly preferred; graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years leadership and management experience.
  • 3-5 years executive level leadership experience of a non-profit organization of equivalent size in the human services sector strongly preferred.
  • Possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed to be essential for success as described in the Success Profile established for the President/Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
