Sports & Performance Cardiology, located in Chevy Chase, MD, provides a range of cardiac care for general cardiology patients, active patients, and athletic patients. Led by Dr. Shah, the clinic focuses on delivering high-quality care and personalized treatment to patients.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Cardiac Sonographer. This will be 100% outpatient and with a unique patient population of generally active patients and athletes with symptoms of heart disease and/or diagnosed heart disease. The sonographer will have competence or willingness to learn to identify coronary ostia given importance of evaluating for coronary anomalies in younger athletes. Competence with strain imaging is preferred. Should have ability to identify important abnormalities and obtain further dedicated images and/or alert the physician before patient leaves to make sure all needed images were obtained. Should have comfort in performing stress echos. The sonographer will have unique opportunities to work with elite athletes (collegiate, professional and Olympic) in the office setting but also in the screening of teams. The sonographer will also be responsible for ensuring the echo room are stocked with needed supplies, the echo machine and supplies are cleaned and properly maintained. 


If you are tired of doing 10-15 echos a day but still enjoy the field, this may be a good fit for you. We are focused on quality and not quantity. You will help with front desk responsibilities (answering phone, scheduling patients), help room patients, perform 12-lead ECGs and apply Holter and ambulatory monitors.


This is a unique opportunity to work and learn in an academic environment but in the private practice setting.



Qualifications


  • Graduate of an accredited program of diagnostic medical sonography or certificate program with at least 1 year of clinical experience
  • Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent in Adult Echocardiography
  • BLS Certified
  • Training in vascular ultrasound (carotids, abdominal aorta) is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in imaging
