About Bay Area Technology School

The Bay Area Technology School (BayTech) is an award-winning public charter

school in East Oakland that was founded in 2004. The school serves 350 students in

grades 6-12. BayTech’s mission is to “infuse assistive technology throughout the school

to provide a personalized educational experience for every student to be college and

career-ready.” BayTech has proudly upheld a 100% graduation rate for the past 4 years.

In addition, BayTech utilizes the University of California “A-G” curriculum requirements to

ensure that each BayTech graduate has completed the requirements to make them UC

eligible. We are a Title I school where 90% o four students qualify for free and reduced lunch.


Job Summary:

The High School Site Director is responsible for setting and implementing the

overall vision for the high school program, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission,

vision, and core values. This role involves overseeing academic programming,

curriculum planning, data analysis, and collaborating with counselors to support student

success. Additionally, as the Golden State Pathways Program Specialist this position

focuses on developing and expanding pathways that facilitate seamless transitions

from high school to post-secondary education and careers, including establishing

partnerships with local employers and educational institutions.

High School Site Director

● Vision and Leadership

○ Develop and communicate a clear vision for the high school program

aligned with the school’s mission, vision, and core values.

○ Ensure all high school programming components are consistent with this

vision.


● Academic Oversight

○ Oversee the academic program to meet students' needs and ensure

compliance with state and national standards (e.g., CAASP, CAST,

ACT/SAT).

○ Lead quarterly curriculum planning and data analysis to drive academic

improvements.


● Collaboration and Scheduling

○ Work with school counselors to create a master schedule that addresses

student needs and supports graduation, internships, and college planning.


● Committee Leadership

○ Serve as the staff liaison and leader for the Local Control Accountability

Committee (LCAP).


● Staff Management

○ Participate in hiring, supervising, and providing feedback to direct reports.

○ Set and monitor annual performance goals for staff.


● Support Systems

○ Provide direction and support for the school’s Multi-Tiered Systems of

Support (MTSS) team

● Pathway Program Promotion and Development

○ Promote and develop pathways that offer high-wage, high-growth career

opportunities, including technology, healthcare, education, and business.

○ Facilitate seamless transitions for students from high school to college

and career.


● Partnerships and Collaboration

○ Establish and maintain relationships with Bay Area technology schools,

higher education institutions, local employers, and community

stakeholders.

○ Develop and expand innovative college and career pathways aligned with

local and regional labor market needs.


● Student Recruitment and Retention

○ Recruit and support students in entering pathways that lead to

post-secondary education and workforce training.

○ Focus on aligning pathways with labor market needs to ensure gainful

employment opportunities.


● Workforce Development

○ Contribute to the development of a skilled and diverse workforce,

addressing statewide needs in professional and educational support,

including early childhood and K-12 education.


● Industry Relationships

○ Develop partnerships with unions, trade groups, and professional

associations to provide students with internships, externships, and other

post-secondary opportunities.


● Pathway Design and Support

○ Lead the design of program pathways to provide clear post-secondary

options for students.

○ Develop processes for academic intervention and innovative instructional

delivery, including in-person and hybrid models.


● College and Career Opportunities

○ Assist students in identifying and accessing college and post-secondary

opportunities, ensuring full participation in pathway programs.


● Dual Enrollment Integration

○ Work with stakeholders to integrate dual enrollment into school programs,

addressing barriers and enhancing equitable access.


● Communication and Outreach

○ Communicate with students, families, and community members about

dual enrollment benefits and opportunities.


● Faculty Collaboration

○ Collaborate with current and future faculty to identify student training

needs and motivates continued participation in pathways and dual

enrollment.


● Performs other duties as assigned.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field; advanced

degree preferred.

● CA teaching and/or Administrative Services Credential preferred

Community experience and job expertise can be substituted for formal education

● Experience in educational leadership and program management.

● Strong understanding of academic standards and curriculum development.

● Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

● Experience with data analysis and performance management.

● Ability to build and maintain partnerships with educational and community

stakeholders.

● Must be proactive, strategic, student-focused, and willing to manage others by

example.
