QUALIFICATIONS

Key qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

  • Experience and/or certification in Computer-Aided Drafting is essential.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation v8i, InRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other relevant software is preferred.
  • Proficient computer drafting skills, including line styles, cell properties, project reference files, global and local coordinates, extracting profile data using TIN or DTM files, and innovative scaling methods.
  • Knowledge of TXDOT projects, as well as CAD support for subsurface utility engineering or utility design projects, is an advantage.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative, with a commitment to expanding industry expertise and career growth.
  • Strong attention to detail and dedication to meeting industry standards to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Interest in fostering client, partner, and community relationships to be a reliable resource locally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide CAD support for Subsurface Utility Engineering projects as needed.
  • Understanding of civil engineering and utility symbols and terms related to creating plan & profile drawings for utility systems in public rights-of-way.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other relevant software is essential.
  • Ability to interpret utility records and civil engineering plans and profiles; prepare base drawings from survey data; and learn new techniques for adding 2D and 3D utility data to exhibits.
  • Develop plan and profile drawings for utility systems like electric, gas, telecommunications, sewer, or water. Performing data entry and maintaining Geographic Information System (GIS) database is beneficial.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager in designing and drafting detailed civil engineering construction drawings.
  • Ensure project deadlines and budgets set by the Project Manager and Client are met.
  • Utilize sketches, drawings, specifications, and engineering data provided by the Client or Project Manager in finalizing construction drawings.
  • Ability to interpret survey notes and utility record drawings.
  • Capable of plotting plan & profile drawings, including cross-sections, elevations, structures, roadways, utilities, and other elements noted in survey or utility records.
  • May involve collecting field or other utility data needed for construction drawings.
  • Calculate project utility dimensions, profile grades, elevations, utility line sizes, and material quantities.
  • Plan work priorities effectively and maintain QA/QC standards.
  • Organize files and documents for easy access.
  • Engage cooperatively with clients, colleagues, supervisors, and management.
  • Perform independent research, adapt to shifting priorities, and work with minimal oversight to deliver precise, error-free results.
