The Head of eCommerce will be a critical part of the leadership team, lead the digital P&L, and will interface with key leaders across the organization. This role is designed to be a key growth driver and is responsible for developing the strategy, grow and develop the team, and create unique digital experiences that deliver growth across the business. Digital marketing will be the primary lever for impact; however, the Head of Commerce role is broad by design and will lead or interface with analytics, user experience, site operations, and product development to implement upcoming product innovations, technologies, and services so that they may be thoughtfully integrated into all digital platforms.


Responsibilities:


Digital Strategy Development:

  • Be the broad functional eCommerce champion for the company and lead the company’s eCommerce P&L.
  • Develop and implement the overall digital strategy for the company, aligning it with broader business objectives.
  • Identify market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape to inform strategy development.
  • Oversee the integration of online and offline channels to create a seamless omnichannel experience for customers.
  • Collaborate on brand digital marketing initiatives and integration to main site.
  • Collaborate on development roadmap with stakeholders to ensure prioritization of workload.
  • Lead and review the design of all UX/UI and visual design work.


Ecommerce Platform Management:

  • Manage the company's ecommerce platform(s), ensuring optimal performance, usability, and scalability. Manage plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design and implementation of new site features, enhancements, and functionality.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to implement new features, enhancements, and integrations.
  • Monitor key metrics such as conversion rates, traffic, and average order value, and take actions to improve performance.


Sales Growth and Revenue Generation:

  • Set ambitious sales targets and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, including new product offerings, market expansion, and strategic partnerships.
  • Optimize pricing strategies, promotions, and merchandising to drive sales and maximize profitability.


Customer Experience Optimization:

  • Continuously improve the online shopping experience to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Conduct user experience testing and gather customer feedback to identify pain points and areas for improvement.
  • Implement personalization strategies to deliver targeted content and offers based on customer preferences and behavior.


Digital Marketing and Acquisition:

  • Create a comprehensive online marketing plan for our brand using all appropriate channels (SEO, SEM, Partnerships, Ad Networks, affiliate networks, social networks, blogging networks, E-mail lists, SMS campaigns, traditional media, and marketplaces like eBay), and others as they come on-line to support the overall brand strategy and drive incremental sales.
  • Manage external agency relationships to build internal team capabilities.
  • Develop and execute acquisition campaigns to drive traffic and acquire new customers.
  • Analyze marketing performance data and adjust strategies accordingly to optimize ROI.


Data Analysis and Insights:

  • Utilize data analytics tools to track and analyze ecommerce performance metrics.
  • Generate actionable insights to inform decision-making and strategy refinement.
  • Develop reporting dashboards and regularly communicate key findings to senior leadership.


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of ecommerce professionals, including marketers, merchandisers, analysts, and developers.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work culture, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback, and facilitate career development opportunities for team members.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including data privacy laws and payment card industry standards.
  • Mitigate risks related to fraud, cybersecurity, and data breaches by implementing appropriate security measures and protocols.


Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, merchandising and development teams, to align ecommerce initiatives with broader business goals.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners, such as technology vendors, agencies, and industry associations.


Stay Current with Industry Trends:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in ecommerce and omnichannel retail.
  • Attend conferences, webinars, and networking events to expand knowledge and stay connected with peers and thought leaders.
  • Additional duties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree preferably in Business, Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience (in addition to degree or years of previous experience), specifically with a background in strategy and planning, ecommerce, merchandising, digital marketing, vendor selection and management.
  • 7 years of experience leading teams.
  • 6 years of experience developing strategic and tactical plans to meet business objectives.
