Job Summary: The Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing cost accounting systems and procedures. This role will focus on providing accurate and timely cost information to assist in decision-making, budgeting, and financial planning within the manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting, excellent analytical skills, and experience in the manufacturing industry.


Key Responsibilities:


Cost Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze production costs, material costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses.
  • Prepare detailed reports on cost variance, margin analysis, and cost trends.
  • Conduct regular cost audits and reconciliations.


Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor budget compliance and provide variance analysis.
  • Support management in strategic planning and financial decision-making.


Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels and turnover rates.


Cost Control:

  • Develop and implement cost control procedures to optimize efficiency.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with production and purchasing teams to ensure cost-effective sourcing and production practices.


Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to cost accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Provide detailed analysis and explanations for financial reports.


Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cost accounting systems.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and technological advancements in cost accounting.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff on cost accounting procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting within the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
