Our client, a leading law firm based in NYC, is seeking an Estate and Trust Administrator to join their team This position is hybrid (3 days on site, 2 days WFH), and based at their beautiful Midtown, Manhattan office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with attorneys on estate administration tasks (date of death, final distributions, etc.)
  • Draft and file legal documents such as court petitions, estate tax returns, and trustee changes
  • Monitor the progress of probate for different cases
  • Oversee the valuations and transfers of assets into estates
  • Review bank and investment accounts and estate records
  • Assist attorneys by providing responses to tax audits
  • Work with attorney’s out of state to manage estate assets outside of New York
  • Draft receipts and releases as well as final distributions for estates and trusts
  • Facilitate payment to trustees
  • Review legal documents including reviewing wills, trusts, and court documents for tax-exempt clients
  • Prepare annual reports for auditors
  • Review estate accounting and inventory trust accounts
  • Coordinate income and distributions from trusts, transferring of assets, and beneficiary payments
  • Create trust allocation schedule and distribute assets at termination
  • Obtaining tax identification numbers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Notary Public commission required
  • 5+ years' experience in Trust and Estate preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal estate tax laws (Estates, Powers and Trusts Law, New York Surrogate’s Court Procedures Act, etc.)
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SuperForm, HotDocs, and Thomson Reuters OneSource Estate Tax
  • Excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills

Salary Range: $140,000 to $150,000 based on experience
