Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Avionics Manager who is fueled by high ownership, execution horsepower, growth mindset, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond.POSITION SUMMARYWe are looking for an experienced Avionics Manager with a strong background utilizing systems engineering principles on complex systems to work on Axiom EVA. Flexibility will be key as this role and responsibilities could evolve as the program moves through various lifecycle phases.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESLead the team that develops, tests, and certifies avionics hardware that controls Life Support Systems.Establish strong working relationships with Axiom Leadership Team, Systems Engineering, respective internal/external stakeholders, and NASA customers.Lead, collaborate, and conduct program design and safety reviews with internal Axiom development teams and NASA customers for commercial spacesuit development.Provide or lead project management efforts for managing, and mitigating schedule, budget, and risk activities.Write Statements of Work and manage vendors in Level of Effort and Milestone contracts.Provide guidance for hardware and software systems, technical discussions, organization, and architecture development.Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership.Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.Perform additional job duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related discipline) is required (Master’s preferred)A minimum of 10+ years of management experience in (NASA/DOD flight hardware development preferred)Experience leading technical teams larger than 5 peopleExperience in Life Support Systems or other Criticality 1 development and testing of avionics hardwarePrior experience in formal test and verification activities including flight hardwareTrack record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environmentsUses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challengesProven to deliver high quality results under tight deadlinesGritPassion for space and the missionEntrepreneurial, growth mindsetPerseveranceResourceful, adaptableSkillsMust have strong verbal communications skills with the ability to speak boldly, clearly, and concisely in groups to communicate important information in a multi-disciplinary teamStrong technical writing and documentation skillsHave demonstrated the ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teamsAbility to manage multiple priorities with little supervisionMust be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethicMust have highly developed coordination and organization skillsResult oriented personality with a creative approach to problem solvingExecutes priorities with precision and paceHigh EQ and ability to collaborate within teams and cross-functionallyTech-savvy in using systems and tools to move faster and smarterExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCompetencies:Embody our core values of leadership, innovation, and teamwork.
