Join the MidwayUSA Foundation as Our Deputy Director
Are you an experienced leader with a passion for nonprofit work? The MidwayUSA Foundation, a national 501(c)(3) public charity based in Columbia, Missouri, is looking for a dynamic Deputy Director to join our senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role that will shape the future of our organization by leading the Programs Group and ensuring that all grant-making processes meet compliance standards.
About the Role
As Deputy Director, you will collaborate closely with our Executive Director to drive strategic initiatives, enhance organizational performance, and cultivate a collaborative and inclusive work environment. You will provide leadership to a diverse team, including Program Managers, Program Coordinators, Marketers, and the Logistics Coordinator, guiding them to excel in their roles.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing all grant processes—such as Cash, Product, Range Development, and Coach Training grants—ensuring that grantees adhere to policies, and supporting Program Managers in evaluating grant applications. Additionally, you’ll direct our Product Grant program, ensuring that products are acquired, accounted for, and delivered to eligible teams and organizations.
You’ll also serve as our specialist on the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act, working with state wildlife organizations and the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) to secure funding for range development. In the absence of the Executive Director, you’ll step in to act on their behalf.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and execute the Foundation’s strategy.
• Leadership: Lead the Programs Group to achieve both tactical and strategic goals.
• Grant Oversight: Manage the administration of all grant processes and ensure compliance.
• Policy Monitoring: Ensure grantees adhere to policies and address any irregularities.
• Product Grant Management: Oversee the acquisition, inventory, and delivery of product grants.
• Collaboration: Work with the Programs Group to support other functional areas and leverage synergies across departments.
• Industry Representation: Represent the Foundation at competitions, events, and conferences, and serve on industry committees as needed.
• Executive Support: Act as the Executive Director in their absence.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate with proven leadership experience in a nonprofit or similar organization, with a strong understanding of grant-making processes and compliance requirements. You should have excellent strategic planning and execution skills, the ability to foster a collaborative work environment, and experience working with state wildlife organizations. Knowledge of the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act is a plus.
This role requires flexibility, including the ability to work outside standard hours and travel up to 25% of the time. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 30 pounds, carry up to 20 pounds, and push/pull objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
Why Join Us?
MidwayUSA Foundation is supported by Larry and Brenda Potterfield, and strives to provide sustainable funding for over 2,800 youth shooting sports teams and organizations nationwide. We offer a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where you can make a real impact.
Benefits
• Health Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance and savings accounts from day one.
