Zai Lab was successfully listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market in September 2017 and completed secondary listing on Hong Kong Stock Exchange in September 2020. In 2022, Zai Lab became dual-primary listed on both the Nasdaq and the Hong Kong Stock Exchanges. Since its inception, Zai Lab has expanded significantly with several offices across China. In 2021, Zai Lab established its U.S. Headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As ofJanuary 2022, the Company has a global team of approximately 2000 employees.
The Senior Manager, SEC reporting and Technical Accounting plays a key role in driving external reporting and technical accounting activities and owns US accounting operations. This role manages filings with both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) and Hong Kong Stock Exchange (“HKEx”). As a technical expert, this role guides and educates the broader team on accounting topics and drives process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies and collaboration among our global teams.
- Lead the preparation of Form 10-Q, 10-K, and other SEC filings, and Hong Kong interim and annual filings, including financial statements, footnotes, MD&A and other disclosures. Ensure compliance with SEC and Hong Kong reporting rules through the accurate and timely filing of required documents.
- Stay current on all pending/new accounting and regulatory requirements. Participate in the implementation, development, and maintenance of policies and procedures as needed.
- Participate in the evaluation and determination of significant and complex transactions and how financial statements and related disclosures will be impacted. Conduct technical research and draft accounting memorandums.
- Assist with setting and maintaining compliance with SOX requirements.
- Coordinate interim reviews and annual audits with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- U.S. Accounting Operations
- Manage US bank accounts and related requests.
- Manage accounts payable activities with the WeBuy system, employee's weekly travel and expense reimbursements with Concur, and payroll processes for the U.S. entity.
- Lead U.S. month-end close activities, such as preparing certain entries, including leases and fixed assets and bank reconciliations.
- Support U.S. lease activities as needed.
- Lead all federal, state, and local tax filings for the U.S. entity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with combination of Big Four public accounting and industry experience -- 3 years of Big Four public accounting experience with at least 3 years hands-on experience of SEC reporting in a public company; or 8 years relevant experience of which 5 years are Big Four accounting experience auditing global public companies; or equivalent combination of advanced degree and experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, SEC

- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Possess strong organizational skills and can prioritize tasks and duties in a deadline-driven environment
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin is preferred
- Operational accounting experience is a nice plus but not required
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $163K and $190K/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
