Job Description:

Devonics has an exciting opportunity for an eager IoT Hardware Engineer to contribute to a revolutionary new product and value proposition for B2B business. This individual is responsible for the development of Hardware and support Firmware IoT solutions to demonstrate enhancements or product innovation concepts that will enable new features for the our B2B upstream team. This individual will support our Senior Level Engineers to develop, build and test further proof of concept innovations or product enhancements by leveraging IoT sensors and optimize algorithms to further the product’s value the end users. The HW Engineer may have to coordinate and collaborate with 3rd party Hardware, Platform partners and internal product delivery teams as needed to integrate and optimize our product offerings.

Location: Onsite - San Diego, CA


Key Responsibilities:

·      Develop an understanding of our current Hardware/Firmware platform.

·      Support investigation and development including building and testing new proof of concepts (POC) innovations that enable expansion of existing device eco system into new categories or brands.

·      Examine current devices in the field and coordinate device characterizations and data analysis to incorporate into the InSite eco system. Also, assist with improving test efficiency and automation as needed.

·      Support development and testing of wireless gateway bridges to expand device ecosystem through Wi-Fi, BT(LE), LORA, and cellular wireless protocols.

·      Support evaluation of current HW/FW to optimize for power consumption and feature enhancements upgrades.

·      Expand product feature set by leveraging industry standard sensor solutions.

·      Support demonstrate and develop of algorithms and concepts that can optimize usage models and device profiles to increase measured accuracy.

·      Will need to work productively with a broad range of functional disciplines within the company.

·      Update management with regular technical updates on development timelines, issues, and successes during each phase of the program.

Required Skills and Experience:

·      Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field.

·      Minimum of 4 years of HW development and circuit design with RF design experience a big plus.

·      2 years FW development and testing; IoT experience is a plus.

·      A strong understanding of wireless technology and electronics principles. 

·      Solid understanding of microprocessor architecture, real-time/embedded concepts, and real-time operating systems fundamentals

·      Knowledge and understanding of cloud platform products and services.

·      Strong skills in designing, testing, and debugging multilayer dense low power circuits.

·      Proficiency with PCB design software such as Altium Designer, Eagle, or KiCad is crucial.

·      Experience with RF circuitry and design for IoT products and wireless protocols

·      Expert in board bring up, debugging and trouble shooting.

·      Familiarity with IoT communication standards and protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, Zigbee, Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, and IoT cellular communications.

·      Hands on experience designing for and debugging I2C, UART, SPI, Ethernet, USB interfaces.

·      Understanding of various sensors (like temperature, humidity, motion, sound sensors) and actuators, and how to integrate them into hardware solutions.

·      Ability to integrate various hardware and software components to build complete IoT solutions. This includes knowledge of operating systems like Linux or Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).

·      Experience with hardware prototyping tools and methodologies.

·      Ability to use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers to troubleshoot and validate hardware.

·      Programming language skills (Python, C++, MATLAB, etc.) beneficial for IoT development and data analysis.

·      Previous work on large-scale, high-impact firmware projects.

·      Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, creative, organized, polished, positive, with excellent interpersonal skills and possess the ability to manage with minimal oversight.

·      Strong Collaboration skills are required to be successful in this role.

·      Experience of working as part of a multi-cultural and geographically dispersed team.

·      Willingness to travel (up to 10% of the time).

·      Ability to deal with ambiguity and make decisions within appropriate timeframes.

·      High level of resilience and resourcefulness.

·      Open-minded, self-starter and “can do” approach.
