Scope: General duties will include testing and overseeing the care and maintenance of all production equipment and GMP utilities. The Jr. Reliability Engineer will support all major capital projects that on-board equipment. In addition, the Jr. Reliability Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all applicable equipment is placed in a compliant preventative maintenance system.


Main Responsibilities


Equipment Reliability:

  • Assist in conducting detailed assessments of production equipment reliability, focusing on understanding failure modes and degradation patterns.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the performance and reliability of critical manufacturing equipment.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that preventive maintenance activities align with reliability improvement goals.


Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance:

  • Support the implementation of advanced condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and oil analysis, to assess the health of critical equipment.
  • Contribute to the execution of predictive maintenance strategies, actively participating in the analysis of real-time data to identify potential issues before they escalate.
  • Collaborate with senior reliability engineers to integrate diagnostic tools and technologies into the overall reliability program.


Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving:

  • Actively participate in root cause analysis efforts for equipment failures, applying methodologies such as 5 Whys or Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions, addressing not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes of equipment issues.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to establish and maintain a systematic approach to address recurring issues.


Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM):

  • Learn and assist in the implementation of Reliability-Centered Maintenance methodologies, ensuring alignment with GMP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to comprehensive risk assessments, considering the impact on reliability, safety, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to prioritize maintenance activities and allocate resources efficiently.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize data analytics tools to assist in the analysis of equipment performance data, identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Learn to generate detailed reports on equipment reliability metrics and key performance indicators, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
  • Work alongside senior engineers to ensure accurate documentation of all analyses and reports, maintaining a comprehensive record for regulatory compliance.


Collaboration with Cross Functional Teams:

  • Implement a comprehensive risk management strategy for capital projects, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation plans.
  • Foster a proactive risk management culture within the team, encouraging ongoing risk identification and assessment.
  • Conduct real-time adjustments to project plans based on evolving risk factors, ensuring project timelines and budgets are safeguarded.
  • Establish a lessons-learned repository to capture and apply insights from past project risks and mitigations.


Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas and demonstrating a proactive approach to enhancing reliability engineering practices.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies, actively seeking opportunities to integrate innovative approaches into the reliability program.
  • Engage with the team to identify areas for improvement and contribute to the implementation of efficiency-enhancing measures.


Training and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Participate in training programs designed to deepen understanding of reliability engineering principles and practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of knowledge-sharing within the maintenance and engineering teams, actively seeking guidance from experienced team members.
  • Document and share best practices, lessons learned, and insights gained from training sessions to promote continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a sub-field of engineering, such as electrical or mechanical from an accredited college or university.
  • Collaborative and inclusive communication style
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays when operating conditions require
  • Ability to physically perform requirements of working in a 24/7 operating facility, to include ability to work in extreme temperatures and be ambulatory in an industrial environment with catwalks and uneven surfaces
