About the Role
We are currently hiring within our QA/QC Team for a Quality Assistant. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who is looking to build a career in the ingredient industry. Our ideal candidate has at least a year (internships qualify) of previous experience working at an ingredient company. Within our team, you will be tasked with assisting with creating product documentation, answering customer documentation requests, and performing lab tests on raw materials and finished goods. The role requires excellent attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a self-motivated individual who is looking for ways we can improve and help our company grow.
Responsibilities
- Product documentation review, creation, and organization: product labels, certificates of analysis (CoAs), specification sheets, nutritional statements, allergen statements, etc.
- Review production documentation: logs, production sign offs, etc.
- Using our in-house analytical equipment for quality checks: viscometer, spectrophotometer, pH meter, densitometer and others as well.
- Coordinate with raw material suppliers to collect current documentation and review responses to our questionnaires.
- Assisting with customer documentation requests (via email, customer portals or 3rd party portals).
- Attend weekly departmental meetings and be a key contributor to the growth and improvement of the department as well as the company as a whole.
- Assist with facility monitoring protocols, sign-off logs, and coordination with our Facilities and Maintenance Team.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science or Chemistry is preferred but a degree in Life Science is welcome as well.
• 1-3 Years of experience working in a QA/QC position within a food company (experience with food colors, lecithins, or processing aids is a plus)
• A basic understanding of the FDA Code of Federal Regulations (7CFR and 21CFR specifically)
• Experience with SQF or other GFSI Food Safety guidelines
• A high degree of competency with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
• Experience working in an analytical setting or laboratory
