We are currently looking for a CAE Technical Specialist to work at our Engineering Office in Auburn Hills, Michigan.


The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Acts as technical consultant in CAE, with special focus on structural evaluations for steel and aluminum assemblies
  • Leads the development of new methodologies for analysis and to improve correlation
  • Identifies design solutions necessary to meet the required engineering, manufacturing, and financial targets within program timing.
  • Participates with Manufacturing, Core Engineering and Testing to form a multidisciplinary team for review of both product and process designs and ensure that DFM&A requirements are met.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date engineering records according to APQP and QMS requirements.
  • Identifies and communicates design materials and specifications.
  • Initiates and implements continuous improvement suggestions.
  • Works as part of the design and development team by providing design, analysis & methodology direction.
  • Expected to use a broader knowledge base to take on complex development assignments
  • Provides technical mentoring for co-workers


Qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Experience in structural CAE attributes design direction for chassis, suspension component evaluations, design for stiffness, strength, fatigue) and experience with CAE software (Optistruct, Nastran, Abaqus, nCode, Designlife, LsDyna)
  • Exposure to testing/validation and knowledge of manufacturing processes for metallic components.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing (steel stamping, welding, assembly, aluminum casting)
  • Excellent knowledge in physical validation of structural attributes (stiffness, strength, fatigue, corrosion, bushing press-in/out). Knowledge of impact testing for safety is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good computer proficiency. Programming language & scripting proficiency is a plus
  • May be required to have proficiency in languages other than English.
  • MS in engineering or equivalent.
