High School Safety Monitor

Primary Function:

Under the direction of the Principal, assists students on campus and maintains order. Establishes control and ensures students a safe environment.


Responsibilities/Duties

  • Patrol assigned facilities, including buildings, parking lots, and grounds, checking for security issues, vandalism, or casualty losses. Report all incidents to an administrator.
  • Report student concerns and handle student conflicts, escalating issues to administration as needed.
  • Assist with dismissal procedures and ensure visitor compliance with appropriate protocols.
  • Monitor hallways, cafeteria, and open areas during passing time, checking student hall passes and IDs.
  • Supervise the cafeteria during student lunch periods and monitor electronic school security systems.
  • Respond to emergency situations according to school/district policies and practices.
  • Assist with student drug testing procedures and report any suspicious behavior to the administration.
  • Physically check every entrance of the school to ensure building security.
  • Investigate safety and security reports, providing findings to campus administration.
  • Enforce district policies and school rules.

  • Participate in approved professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
