Position Overview:

In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining data platforms, patterns, and solutions for cross-team analytics and operations. As a leader in analytics engineering within IT, you’ll oversee data curation efforts and business intelligence projects that adapt to change and overcome common challenges in data processing. You'll work to encourage the adoption of best practices and expand data ownership across both technical and business teams.

Ideal Candidate:

You are an independent, proactive individual who is passionate about helping teams make data-driven decisions. You have significant experience in data modeling and can offer practical solutions to complex challenges. Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred, with a strong understanding of data relevant to Commercial Sales and related functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build reliable data transformation workflows to trigger actions when necessary.
  • Deliver data models that support both individual and cross-functional needs.
  • Collaborate on the creation of business intelligence solutions.
  • Develop semantic models, metrics, and calculations.
  • Maintain metadata that meets privacy, cost, and business requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders to establish and manage business rules.
  • Identify and communicate data quality issues.
  • Address and resolve data quality concerns with upstream data providers.
  • Monitor data use and raise awareness around the cost and value of data assets.
  • Manage platforms and features that support analytics engineering.
  • Write solution design documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with data governance teams.
  • Lead collaboration efforts across teams to align on project goals and methodologies.
  • Apply domain-driven design to tackle complex business problems.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of analytics projects, aligning them with business goals.
  • Mentor and guide team members and contributors in analytics engineering best practices.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Advanced expertise in data modeling and BI solution development, including translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Expertise in orchestrating data flows and working with Agile tools like Git/GitHub and Jira.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake), and transformation tools (SQL, Python).
  • Proficiency in creating and managing complex data queries on large, diverse data sets.
  • Experience in building business intelligence solutions with tools like Power BI and Tableau.
  • Familiarity with best practices in related business functions, and a desire to improve tools and processes in your area of expertise.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field, plus 6+ years of experience in data analytics and BI solution development.
  • OR Master's degree in the same fields, plus 4+ years of experience.
