Director of Maintenance

The Director of Maintenance will oversee the maintenance operations of our manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring that all equipment and systems operate efficiently and safely. The Director of Maintenance will lead a team of maintenance professionals and work closely with other departments to support production goals and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering.
- Communicates regularly and has a strong relationship with team members in multiple departments.
- Communicates and meets periodically with other departmental leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance managers and supervisors.
- Review preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with production, quality assurance, and other departments.
- Manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and facilities.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized services.
- Perform maintenance planning, including analyzing situations and preparing action plans.
- Determine staffing requirements, train associates, and administer discipline.
- Motivate associates, establish rewards, and lead by example.
- Control through metrics (KPIs), direct activities, and prepare corrective actions.
- Develop solutions to problems and implement corrective action plans.
- Propose capital improvements.
- Communicate with the Operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
- Ensure all equipment functions efficiently to the highest standards.
- Communicate with QC to ensure effective participation in QC policies.
- Track, analyze, and improve key maintenance parameters.
- Direct and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance processes, equipment, and systems used in food manufacturing.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and tools (CMMS).
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to stand for the duration of a 12-hour shift with applicable breaks
- Excellent interpersonal skills – team player
- Hard worker who is a self-starter and proactive
- Great verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field. Or minimum 10 years of relative work experience.
- Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D
