With a focus on automation and scalability, I am seeking talented Platform Engineers to join our dynamic teams.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with experts from the Linux and Infra-Platform teams to design and implement systems for managing our infrastructure, leveraging your expertise in Python programming.
  • Drive the adoption of open-source software (OSS) and contribute to upstream repositories to enhance infrastructure operations.
  • Take ownership of various aspects including modelling, provisioning, configuration management, observability, and deployment, ensuring our infrastructure remains robust and reliable.
  • Balance your time between operational tasks and development efforts, based on your skillset and preferences, to maintain and enhance our infrastructure systems.


Some ongoing projects include:


  • Designing a command line client and HTTP API, leveraging FastAPI, to provision Linux bare metal servers and networking devices.
  • Maintaining a critical component that ensures risk control by terminating connections to the exchange during unexpected system issues.
  • Supporting and extending a system that describes our infrastructure, serving as the foundation for "Infrastructure as Code".
  • Enhancing our image-based server deployment system to minimize provisioning time.
  • Automating provisioning and configuration management of network devices using open-source software.
  • Redesigning our Linux Authentication stack to enhance security and efficiency.


Example projects you could contribute to:


  • Building the next-generation Observability stack, scaling up monitoring systems for bare metal infrastructure at a large scale.
  • Developing a "terraform-like" tool for declarative infrastructure management, enabling faster growth in a complex bespoke environment.


Required Skills:


  • Strong desire to automate tasks, with a problem-solving mindset and adaptability to select appropriate tools for different challenges.
  • Proficiency in Python programming or a willingness to learn and apply Python skills. Proficiency in scripting and working with Linux or networking at low levels is also valuable.
  • Excellent time management skills, collaborating effectively with other teams to handle priorities.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, taking initiative to identify and resolve issues.
  • Experience working with real-life infrastructure, understanding its challenges and complexities.
  • Experience in building Python tools for infrastructure automation.
  • High attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) and interest in declarative systems.
