Job Overview The Steward at Safta’s Table plays a key role in supporting both the cleanliness and flow of the kitchen and dining room. This position is responsible for dishwashing, basic janitorial work, trash and recycling duties, and light prep such as portioning ingredients. Stewards may also be assigned to support guest-facing areas when needed, including food running, bussing tables, beverage station restocking, or general cleaning in the dining room. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in creating a clean, organized, and efficient environment and is willing to jump in wherever needed. Key Responsibilities Wash and sanitize all dishes, cookware, and kitchen tools following health and safety standards Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dish area, floors, walls, and trash stations Break down boxes and manage trash and recycling throughout the shift Assist with portioning and basic prep work as directed by the kitchen team Restock clean dishes, utensils, and equipment to appropriate stations Rotate through other support roles as needed, including busser, runner, and beverage restocking Keep the dining area clean, including wiping tables and maintaining self-service stations Follow proper safety procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment Communicate any supply or equipment issues to leadership promptly Provide all other duties, as assigned Qualifications No experience necessary, a positive attitude and willingness to work hard are most important Strong attention to cleanliness and detail Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions Comfortable working both in the kitchen and guest-facing areas Team player with a flexible, can-do attitude Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move for extended periods (up to 8+ hours) Must be able to lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs Comfortable with repetitive motion, including bending, reaching, and lifting Ability to work in hot, humid, or wet kitchen environments Joining the Safta’s Table team means becoming part of a family that is passionate about food, culture, and creating memorable experiences for our guests.
