- We are hiring immediately for a SOUS CHEF position.
- Location: Visa, 900 Metro Center Boulevard MET, Foster City, CA 94404. Note: online applications accepted only.
- Schedule: Full Time; Monday through Friday, hours may vary depending on business needs. A typical day will be 5:30am to 3:30am.
- Details: As the Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in the successful operation of the Culinary Department. You will assist in supervising food preparation and cooking, developing daily menu items, and ensuring quality and consistency in food presentation. Additionally, you will oversee the grab-and-go program, ensuring efficient production, proper packaging, and adherence to food safety standards. You will collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop new menu items, assist with ordering, and may supervise hourly associates. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary professional. Key responsibilities include:
- Assist the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and expenditures.
- Assist in planning and creating menus, including grab-and-go offerings.
- Oversee the grab-and-go program, ensuring high-quality, properly portioned, and well-packaged items.
- Maintain proper inventory levels for the grab-and-go program and ensure timely production.
- Execute catering events and special functions as needed.
- Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the company's marketing and culinary teams.
- Requirement: Sous chef management experience. Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal training. Experience in catering and high-volume food service is a plus. Strong knowledge of food trends, quality control, production, sanitation, and cost management. Experience with batch cooking and institutional food service is helpful. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Internet use. Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities. Manager ServSafe certification. - Salary Range: $75,000 - 90,000

Job Summary
Summary: As a Sous Chef I, you are responsible for assisting with the overall success of the food program and overseeing culinary functions. The position entails assisting in all phases of planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation. This includes adhering to the client's culture and guidelines, the Health Department's regulations, and the company's standards and expectations of food quality, freshness and presentation. The Sous Chef I also motivates, trains, develops, and directs the back of house associates preparing and cooking foods to accomplish the objectives of the operation to the satisfaction of the customers, clients, and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items.
- Assists with planning and creating menus.
- Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team.
- Assists with managing cost controls and controlling expenditure.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of related culinary experience including 1 year at the management level.
- Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
- Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
- Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.
- ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred.
- Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel.
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
