We have established direct and distributor sales/service organizations in America and Europe, with sales expanding in other markets internationally.Reports ToMachine Shop Supervisor Job Overview TRAK Machine Tools is looking for a highly skilled and experienced CNC Lathe Machinist Level 3 to join our team. This advanced-level role is ideal for a lathe machinist who can work independently from start to finishdeveloping CNC programs, designing fixtures, performing complex setups, and machining high-precision parts to tolerances of 0.0001". The ideal candidate will also play a leadership role in supporting less experienced machinists, contributing to process improvement, and ensuring the highest quality standards on our proprietary and Mazak CNC equipment. Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (mills and lathes) for production and prototype parts Design and fabricate custom jaws, fixtures, and workholding solutions Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications Machine tight-tolerance parts to 0.0001" Perform first-article inspections and make in-process adjustments as needed Train and mentor CNC Machinist Levels 1 and 2 Collaborate with engineering on design-for-manufacturability feedback Recommend and implement improvements in tooling, methods, and processes Work independently to manage assigned jobs from programming through completion Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environment Create and modify digital job folders operation, setup and inspection forms Qualifications Minimum 8 years of CNC machining experience, including programming and complex setups Proficient in CAM software and/or conversational controls (e.g., Siemens Sinumerik, ProtoTRAK, or Mazak) Deep understanding of cutting tools, feeds/speeds, materials, and high-precision workholding Strong ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T Proven track record of machining to 0.0001" tolerances Effective leadership, communication, and mentoring skills Able to troubleshoot and resolve technical machining challenges independently Experience with Siemens Sinumerik One, ProtoTRAK, and Mazak controls Exposure to prototype and low-volume production environments Experience machining a wide range of materials, including aluminum, cast iron and various steels Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives DISCLAIMER The above description is not intended to be interpreted as an exhaustive list of skills, qualifications, and duties for this role.
